Blogging Again
I think I should probably start blogging again. I don't know why, I just think I should. xD
I should have probably lost all my readers that I used to have. Nevermind, imaginary ones will do(for now). =x
These few weeks, I've been teaching modern dance at Bukit View Sec Sch(BVSS). This school is really a nice platform for me to experience new things. I may have quite a bit of experience in teaching, but most of them are just assisting. (Meaning, main instructors have already taught students the moves. Students will have to show/teach me their moves and I perfect them. I can learn a new dance pretty fast, provided its primary/secondary school standard.) BVSS is always something different.
The first time when I was assigned there, I had to choreograph a new dance item(for CNY performance) and they had to learn in like, 3 weeks? Choreograph and teach them everything all in 3 weeks? They only have 1 lesson per week, so its 3 DAYS to be exact. Totally insane. I approached Cherie for help since modern dance is not within my "area of expertise", and she had been doing it for 3 years in poly. But we totally failed. Haha! The teachers I/C just made the students learn something super simple and easy to remember and they practice themselves with extra lessons. So 1st experience, FAILED. No reason to stay on right? So I left.
The second time, I had to choreograph AGAIN!!! I never had to choreograph for any schools, but whenever I'm assigned to BVSS, I HAVE to choreograph. For what event this time? YOG 99 days countdown. WOW! Public event at *SCAPE. How great! Even more pressure than the previous one. I lost weight due to the stress. Did ALOT of research and thinking. Practiced alot with boyfriend for fighting techniques(Boxing, Judo, Taekwando, etc). Lucky for me, the actual day performance turned out to be quite a success. So 2nd experience, a lucky pass.
On the actual day of performance, I actually told many of the students that I quit teaching dance and would be going to another job(teach dance pay not very good ah). A few of them are like disappointed and added me on facebook to keep in touch. So I went on with my job at Japanese restaurant and faced all the stupid drama everyday(though everything seemed to be really great at first). Until one day, I could bare no longer and decided to quit. My dance teacher found out that I lost my job. Sooooo how will she let slip of this golden opportunity to make use of this jobless me? Haha! And so, I'm stucked with BVSS for the 3rd time.
Now, is my third time with BVSS. My mission this time? Assist. YAY! Assist what? For public concert at Singapore Poly(SP) and SYF. Damn it. Why always big event sia?!?!?!?!?! This time, I'm collaborating with another instructor. She's the main, and I assist. Even though she's main, she won't put on airs like other main instructors would(they are the main because they major in dance. I'm an assistant because dance is more of a hobby than a job to me). So, she won't put on airs. So, she discuss almost everything with me. She asks for my opinion. Which means, I still have to make decisions. It's not the usual assisting that I used to do. Back then, I didn't have to make a single decision.(Maybe I had to, you know.... "Teacher!! Can I go to toilet? Can I go water cooler?" that kind of thing? Haha!) And that makes things a little bit harder than how it used to work for me. Nevertheless, I will try my best and bring out the potential that this group of students have. I have spotted a few talents and I hope to see more as time goes by. =)
Super long post.. haha!! I shall end here for now. Have to go BVSS again later at 9am. =) So....... tata~
